Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead

Kruistocht in spijkerbroek
Nice to rewatch a movie that had a big impact on me growing up. It could have had a bit more grit but perfect as a children's film.

The phantom of the opera
How have I never watched this film? Butler was perfectly cast. His growling rock voice was very memorable, but his alure and tortured persona even more.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead
Brilliant dialogues, watching it bexecuted by Roth and Oldman feels like a privilege. Absolute must watch if you're into dynamic play like cinema.

Somewhere in time
Happy to have stumbled upon this time traveling romance. Famous cast. Not the most intricate plot but the kissing scene was 10/10 no remarks. I was genuinely surprised to see Reeve bring that to the table. Wouldn't recommend unless you're gaga for time travel.

In the shadow of the cypress
Oscar winning shortfilm. Very powerful illustration of struggle and being broken. Must watch! It doesn't take long, just watch it!

Marked Men: Rule + Shaw
The morally grey book boyfriend doesn't really work on screen. Yes, he came across as a tortured soul, but in a Twilight way. I kept waiting for the gloves to come off. Have to mention the girl roommate and the soldier brother. Those two took it to the next level. Great acting! I loved the styling choices for Rule. It was a perfect mix of Harry Styles and bad-boy-artist.

Hot Fuzz

Memoir of a snail
Heartwarming stop motion film for adults. Liked the style and the life lessons.

Old Guy
Top cast! Love all three main characters and would watch more of this type of "I'm to old for this shit" movies in a heartbeat.

Picture this
Disappointed by the main love interest. Didn't feel any connection. The gay best friend carries this movie and is nowhere to be found on the poster. Luke Fetherston should be next to Simone Ashley. Liked this film if you leave out the very last bit.

Hot fuzz
This is an all-time great! Haven't watched it as often as 'Shawn of the death' but boy this movie warms my heart! The humour, fast paste and film locations are out of this world.

Legend
Top cast of two Tom Hardy's. Great locations, costumes, storyline and acting. Craving a sherbert lemon after this.

Red right hand
Wouldn't recommend this film but Bloom gave a surprisingly believable American accent.  Storyline was rather predictable and didn't feel compelling.

24 vd 48 films

The next 24 movies of 2025
My listing:
1) Challengers
2) the Love Witch
3) Companion
4) Emilia Pérez
5) World's end
6) Nickel Boys

Emilia Pérez

Nosferatu
I was disappointed. The best thing in this movie was Nicholas Hoult's acting. It was faithful to the original 1922 movie but it brought less to the table than Gary Oldmans Dracula in 1992. I wished I went in with zero expectations.

Nickel Boys
Rightfully nominated for best film this year. A masterclass in story telling. What a vision! Is a must watch for every film lover.

A complete unknown
Wish I didn't have to watch this film, not a Chalamet nor Dylan fan. But nominated for an Academy award so here we are. Liked the costumes and it was well acted. Just not my cup of tea.

The Brutalist
I did not get the hype. Yes, the shots were masterful. Yes the main and supporting male roles were out of this world. But it was so painfully long and I had such high expectations. Would hesitate to recommend this movie but glad I sat through it.

Emilia Pérez
I loved this film! Didn't know there would be singing and dancing but what a pleasant surprise. The storyline was fresh and compelling. The acting was great. It was immersive and felt urgent. Would highly recommend.

Sing sing
Sadly no singing in this movie. The best thing was finding out how many ex-inmates played themselves in this film. The story didn't resonate with me and that's why I wouldn't recommend.

Challengers

Bridget Jones Mad about the boy
I went in with zero expectations and was blown away. Loved the nostalgic cast returns and liked the storyline better than the previous sequels.

Section 31
Love scyfy and Michelle Yeo but this movie disappointed. It was stretched rather thin and would have served better as an Doctor Who episode. They tried giving individual characters dept but it didn't take.

The last showgirl
What a spectacular cast! Loved the dialogues and the desperation lying underneath the surface. Was disappointed it didn't get any Oscar recognition.

Companion
Loved this movie. Felt like M3gan but not as creepy. The dynamic is unmatched. Really fanning over Jack Quaid. Would recommend to everyone who doesn't mind a little violence.

September 5
Very compelling movie! Fast pasted and intriguing. Would highly recommend.

Challangers
I think I have a new favourite movie! This was suspenseful, romantic and fucked-up. It felt like Saltburn but less controversial.  A definite must watch!

the World's end

The Iron claw
Masterfully acted, immersive storytelling and gutting. Would recommend if you're up for it.

Eat, Love, London
Didn't make any sense. Lots of wholes and rightout mistakes. One dimentional characters. Was terrible from storyline to set dressing. Great example of what not to do.

Elton John: Never too late
Great documentary! Would recommend to everyone who somewhat likes his music. Felt very honest and raw.

The world's end
Liked it even better the second time watching this. Would recommend to everyone who's a fan of England.

Competencia Oficial
Worldstar cast! Banderas and Cruz are catapulted to the greats as soon as you watch them in their native tongue. Compelling story and beautifully portrayed.

The past and the furious
Love a time travel storyline. Was well worked out but predictable because the Simpsons have to fall back to the general settings at the end for continuity.

the Love Witch

The love witch
I love this movie! The vibe, the sets, costumes and the storyline are stunning! Even the bad acting adds to it. You can't change my mind.

The six triple eight
I shed some tears, powerful story would recommend!

The bikeriders
I was expecting too much from this movie. It was wonderfully acted and the main cast was the reason I watched. I wouldn't recommend it though.

T2 Trainspotting
Second time watching this movie. It was even better! Would only recommend this if the first movie was something you'd enjoyed watching.  Felt really nostalgic.

Kingdom of the planet of the apes
Went in with zero expectations and was blown away. I would recommend! Great story underneath impressive CGI.

The only girl in the orchestra
Short documentary that won an Oscar this year. Wouldn't recommend.  It was a sweet tale but it didn't catch my interest.

24 movies from 2025

The first 24 movies from 2025
Out of these movies I made a ranking of my six favourites:
1) the Witch of Kings cross
2) the Substance
3) Flow/ the wild robot (It's a tie)
4) Maria
5) Foe
6) Persuasion

The Substance

The substance
A must watch but keep in mind it's very gory and has a high David Lynch feel.

Maria
Loved the story, the music and Angelina Jolie's performance! Also her nightgown is on my bucket list now.

Moana 2
I was expecting something like Frozen 2 but it didn't have catchy songs and I felt underwhelmed.

Yuck!
A short story about summer vacation
It was sweet, funny and relatable.

The killer's game
This type of movie was made a hunderd times over and better. I wouldn't recommend.  Nothing felt believable or relatable.

You're cordially invited
If you're not a fan of Will Ferrell's humour, just skip this movie. Not even Reese Whiterspoon can salvage it.

Hit Man

Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance most fowl
I wouldn't necessarily recommend this film but it had a nice pase and the craftsmanship is undeniable.

Kraven the hunter
I was expecting too much of this movie. But for its genre it was adequate. The only good bits are given away in the trailer so I wouldn't necessarily recommend.

Back in action
Lovely to see Cameron Dias returning to screen. Jamie Fox is a marvellous co-star and you get what you'd expect. A family friendly action film.

O C'mon all ye faithful
I watched it in January and I can't recall the storyline. Generally like the Simpsons though.

Hit man
Only watched it because of the Golden Globe nomination and it surprised me. It was a fun movie with a surprisingly good cast. Would recommend.

The cold light of day
I'd recommend this film if you like Henry Cavill. But don't get your hopes up. It wasn't a good movie by any measure.

Flow

Flow
A wholesome animation that rightfully won the Academy award. I would recommend it to everyone.

The Witch of Kings cross
I loved this documentary! The re-enactments and discovery of a wiccan artist was wonderful. What a story!

Foe
Paul Mescal is a star! What a performance.  It felt like watching a play. I was captivated from start to finish.

The wild robot
Rightfully nominated for an Oscar, this heartfelt movie I would recommend to all ages.

The apprentice
Got on my radar because of the Oscar nominations, wouldn't have watched it otherwise but glad that I did. Masterclass in acting!

Persuasion
As a massive Jane Austen fan, I still needed to watch this. This was a refreshing retelling with a fun breaking of the third wall. Not for everyone but I liked it a lot!

A real pain

Let's look at with what I watched in 2025
Anora winner of the Academy Awards.
I wouldn't recommend it to everyone.  I especially liked the male supporting role (who unfortunately didn't win an Oscar).

A real pain
This movie I would recommend.  It felt awkward at times but the general story telling was masterful.

Civil War
A movie that was on my bucket list for a while. I liked the dark undertone and think it's important that movies like these get made.

Twisters
Only watched it because of the Golden Globe nomination. I wouldn't recommend it although it had a good pase.

Conclave
Masterfully casted and acting was on point. That's the only reason the story was as compelling as it was.

Save the date
I wouldn't recommend this film but I liked the cartoonish drawings. I couldn't relate to any of the relationships.
